Join us in Calgary on October 15th, on the eve of  Canada’s Productivity Summit hosted by the University of Calgary in collaboration with the Government of Alberta, as Cardus’ Canadian President Brian Dijkema delivers an address: “A Productive Land: Tending the Civic Soil of Canada’s Economy.”

Canada is facing the wicked problem of lagging productivity. There’s no doubt that we need to attract the best economists, academics, and business leaders to solve it.

Yet what if Canada’s productivity potential actually rests a little closer to home – even around the kitchen tables of Alberta’s and Canada’s families? Why are core issues like the social determinants of productivity – family formation, the purpose of work, child care options, and the quality of K-12 education – often neglected in discussions? And what if we could move elements of those determinants from the kitchen table to Main Street, the boardroom, the ranch, and the workshop – what kind of real progress would we see?

Joining the discussion will be Shannon Joseph (Chair, Energy for a Secure Future), Mark Cameron (VP External Relations, Pathways Alliance), and Jen Gerson (Co-Founder, The Line).

We hope you can join us for this evening of bold vision and an essential contribution towards a productive and flourishing society!
