How can a bedsore from a hospital visit lead to a successful request for euthanasia? That’s the story of Normand Meunier whose arms and legs are paralyzed. After he entered hospital northwest of Montreal for a respiratory issue in January 2024, he ended up with a severe bedsore. Eventually, fearing he would be “a burden,” he chose death instead of continued treatment for the sore. Now, Quebec’s coroner has opened an official inquiry into the case.
